Given the harsh heat wave that is occurring now because of the dry season, the Local Committee for Disaster Prevention and Care (CLOPAD) Girardot made an emphatic appeal to all and the general community girardoteños they should avoid making fires, cooking in the open, making fires in agricultural areas and throwing cigarette butts or flammable materials, this in order to prevent conflagrations occur which may affect wildlife.
For this reason, the Municipality of Girardot with Prodesarrollo and Security Corporation invites the community to report and denounce with local authorities as the National Police and the Fire Department of the city, any act suspected of starting a forest fire. It is noteworthy that the Penal Code qualifies as a crime the generation of fire, which carries 2 to 10 years in prison and fines of up to 500 monthly legal minimum wage.
